The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kebbi State has elected its state executives by consensus, as party leaders urged supporters to mobilise against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of upcoming elections.
Speaking at the congress, former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Aminu Bande, who recently defected to the ADC, called on supporters to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and rally support to unseat the APC at both the state and national levels. He said the move was necessary to address what he described as the hardship faced by citizens under the current administration.
Also addressing party members, former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, urged members to remain committed to the party, expressing confidence in the ADC’s growing strength in Kebbi State.
Earlier, the chairman of the congress committee from the party’s national headquarters in Abuja, Suleiman M. Membo, commended the peaceful conduct of the exercise. He noted that congresses held across the state’s 225 wards, 21 local government areas, and at the state level were conducted without disputes.
Membo added that the process adhered strictly to guidelines in line with the Electoral Act. The committee’s secretary, Tukur Aliyu Tartsa, moved a motion for the adoption of consensus in electing the state executives, which was seconded by party chieftain Shehu Muhammed Koko.
The newly elected state executives, affirmed by consensus, include Sufiyanu Bala as Chairman, Musa Argungu as Vice Chairman, Abubakar Kalgo as Secretary, Haruna Haruna Jega as Publicity Secretary, and Dan Yaro Gwandu as Financial Secretary.
