Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Afam Osigwe, has been officially inaugurated as the 32nd President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA). Osigwe, who takes over from his predecessor, SAN Yakubu Maikyau, will lead the association for the next two years alongside other newly sworn-in national officers.
During his inaugural address at the swearing-in ceremony in Lagos on Thursday, Osigwe praised his opponents, Tobenna Erojikwe and SAN Chukwuka Ikwazom, for their decorum during the election process. He extended a hand of fellowship to them, urging them to join him in advancing the association’s mission.
Osigwe vowed to lead an all-inclusive NBA that not only unites its members but also propels the association forward. He also committed to holding federal and state governments accountable, ensuring that their policies deliver good governance to the people.
As of the time of reporting, Osigwe was still delivering his inaugural speech. His inauguration marks the conclusion of the week-long NBA annual general conference, which began on August 23
