Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has named former Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa as the new General Manager of Kano Pillars Football Club, in a sweeping shake-up of the club’s leadership announced Friday.
The appointment, confirmed by the governor’s spokesperson Sanusi Tofa, follows the expiration of the outgoing board’s one-year term. The move, Yusuf said, is part of a broader strategy to revitalize the club and elevate its performance.
“This is more than just a reshuffle. It is a deliberate initiative to blend football experience with strong administration,” the statement read. “The inclusion of Ahmed Musa reflects our desire to attract investment, inspire players, and reignite fans’ passion.”
Musa, who began his career with Kano Pillars before achieving international fame in England, Russia, and Turkey, expressed gratitude for the opportunity.
“Kano Pillars has always been close to my heart. I’m honoured to contribute in this new capacity,” he said.
The newly constituted 17-member board will be chaired by Ali Umar Nayara. Several members from the previous board, including Media Directors Abubakar Isah Dandago Yamalash and Ismail Abba Tangalash, retained their positions for continuity.
Governor Yusuf tasked the new board with restoring Kano Pillars’ competitive edge in the Nigerian Premier Football League, following a ninth-place finish last season.
