Airtel Africa Foundation has fulfilled its ₦1 billion pledge in support of the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme, an initiative designed to develop Nigeria’s digital workforce.
During a ceremony in Abuja, Airtel Africa Foundation Chairman, Dr. Segun Ogunsanya, formally presented the donation to the Minister of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy, Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani.
Dr. Ogunsanya reiterated Airtel’s commitment to Nigeria’s economic growth through digital empowerment.
“At Airtel, we believe in the power of technology and digital skills to unlock new opportunities, drive economic growth, and uplift communities,” Ogunsanya said. “The 3MTT programme is a bold step toward ensuring Nigerian youths are not just participants in the digital revolution but leaders in it. Our ₦1 billion support is a strategic investment in Nigeria’s future workforce and prosperity.”
The 3MTT programme, championed by Dr. Tijani as part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s strategic talent-building agenda, seeks to bridge the digital divide and position Nigeria as a key player in the global technology landscape.
Minister Tijani praised Airtel’s contribution, noting its significance in advancing Nigeria’s digital economy.
“The 3MTT programme is a cornerstone of our commitment to building a robust digital economy in Nigeria,” Tijani stated. “We are grateful for Airtel Nigeria’s generous support, which will significantly expand the programme’s reach. With partnerships like this, we are not just skilling our youth—we are shaping the future of our nation.”
Beyond the donation, Airtel reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with the ministry and other stakeholders to ensure the initiative delivers lasting impact. The company emphasized that strong public-private partnerships remain crucial in achieving Nigeria’s digital ambitions.
