Airtel Africa Foundation, through Airtel Nigeria, marked International Volunteer Day 2025 by celebrating the achievements of its Employee Volunteer Programme (EVP), a flagship initiative that encourages staff to dedicate time, skills, and resources to community development across 14 African markets.
The event, held at Airtel Nigeria Headquarters in Lagos, featured team-building activities, volunteer testimonials, and spotlights on outstanding participants. It also served as a platform to encourage more employees to register for EVP initiatives and join the volunteer community.
Since its inception, the EVP has become central to Airtel Africa Foundation’s community engagement, enabling employees to lead initiatives that advance education, digital skills, environmental responsibility, and youth empowerment. Volunteers have actively participated in programmes such as the International Day of Education Essay Competition, Teacher-for-a-Day sessions, beach clean-ups, plastic waste reduction campaigns, and the Airtel-3MTT NextGen Fellowship for young Nigerians.
Speaking at the celebration, Dinesh Balsingh, CEO of Airtel Nigeria, said:
“International Volunteer Day reminds us that real impact begins with people who are willing to show up and serve. Today, we honour the incredible dedication of Airtel employees, whose selfless commitment of time and talent is the engine behind our progress.”
In 2025 alone, Airtel Nigeria’s volunteers have contributed over 200 hours of service, reaching more than 100,000 beneficiaries, including initiatives supporting the Lagos State Government’s COVID-19 control efforts.
Femi Adeniran, Director of Corporate Communications & CSR, praised the employees’ commitment:

As the EVP continues to expand, Airtel Africa Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing access to education, digital literacy, environmental care, and opportunities for underserved communities across the continent. International Volunteer Day thus serves as a global moment to recognise the often-unsung contributions of volunteers whose efforts deliver lasting impact.
