Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo, was officially sworn in for a second term on Tuesday at the newly renovated Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, the state capital. He took the oath alongside his deputy, Dr. Onyeka Ibezim.
The inauguration drew notable dignitaries, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, former Commonwealth Secretary-General Emeka Anyaoku, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and several other governors.
Soludo’s second term follows his victory in the November 8, 2025 governorship election. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared him winner with 422,664 votes, defeating All Progressives Congress candidate Nicholas Ukachukwu, who scored 99,445 votes, and Young Progressives Party candidate Sir Paul Chukwuma, who polled 37,753 votes.
A total of 16 candidates contested the election. Out of 2,788,864 registered voters, 598,229 were accredited, with 595,298 votes cast and 11,244 rejected across the state’s 21 local government areas. Soludo of APGA secured a landslide victory, winning in all 21 LGAs.
