The Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) has approved a series of developmental projects aimed at beautifying the state and advancing Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s vision of transforming Anambra into a megacity. The decisions were made during the 25th ANSEC meeting held at the Lighthouse, Awka, on December 15, 2025.
State Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, announced that ANSEC awarded a contract for water supply to the Ekwulobia Flyover Bridge Fountain and the establishment of an ornamental garden to Double NC Construction & Logistics Ltd. The council also approved the installation of a 3-way traffic light with pedestrian lights at the Ifite-Amenyi intersection in Awka to S.N.U. Ventures.
In addition, Kennolly Enterprises was contracted to supply and install two 10 kVA inverters with 15 kW lithium batteries at the Anambra State Civil Service Commission building in Awka. Contracts for the supply and installation of transformer substations in Nnewi and Umueze-Anam communities were awarded to Aries and Gold Ventures Ltd and Aljovic Construction Ltd, respectively.
The council also approved the landscaping of the car park at the Trauma Centre of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH), Amaku, Awka, to Triseconds Resources Ltd.
Mefor highlighted ANSEC’s focus on tackling erosion, describing it as an existential challenge for the state. The council noted that improper stormwater management by residents and noncompliance with environmental regulations have exacerbated the erosion crisis. ANSEC resolved to enforce stricter guidelines for building erosion barriers, managing stormwater, and restricting sand excavation to designated areas.
Furthermore, the council addressed encroachments on government lands, approving the formation of a committee to reclaim illegally occupied government properties across Anambra State.
These initiatives form part of Governor Soludo’s broader agenda to modernize infrastructure, enhance urban aesthetics, and ensure sustainable development in Anambra State.
