BREAKING: Court Dismisses Suit Seeking Ganduje’s Removal as APC Chairman

By Ayomide Otitoju

Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a suit seeking the removal of Abdullahi Ganduje as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The suit, filed by the APC North Central Group, was rejected on multiple grounds.

Justice Ekwo ruled that the group lacked legal standing, as it is not a juristic person registered by law. He also noted that the plaintiff failed to exhaust internal party mechanisms for resolving disputes before approaching the court. Furthermore, the judge stated that the appointment of APC officers by the party’s National Executive Committee is an internal matter beyond judicial intervention.

The North Central APC Group had argued that Ganduje’s appointment violated the party’s Constitution, claiming the position should have gone to a representative from the North Central zone. They sought to prevent Ganduje from continuing as chairman and asked the court to bar the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognizing decisions made under his leadership since August 3, 2023.
