Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, made his first appearance in court as a lawyer on Friday, marking a new chapter in his professional journey after years in politics and public life.
Melaye, clad in the traditional lawyer’s wig and gown, appeared before Justice Emeka Nwite at Court 8 of the Federal High Court in Abuja. The development follows his recent call to the Nigerian Bar after completing his law degree at Baze University, Abuja.
The former senator, who represented Kogi West during the 8th National Assembly, was among over 5,000 candidates called to the Bar in early July. He shared a photo of his courtroom debut on his verified Facebook page, captioned: “Senator Dino Melaye at the Federal High Court Abuja today. Appeared before Justice Emeka Nwite of Court 8.”
Melaye, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has held several high-profile political positions and is known for his activism and media presence. His transition into the legal profession adds a new dimension to his public career.
