South West PDP Reaffirms Loyalty, Unity at Ibadan Meeting

By Ayomide Otitoju

The South West Caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reaffirmed its loyalty to the party and its commitment to unity and progress in the region, following a strategic meeting held on Friday at the Olusoji Adagunodo Zonal Secretariat in Ibadan, Oyo State.

In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, the caucus praised Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke for their leadership and efforts to stabilise and grow the party in the zone.

The caucus clarified that it is not part of any proposed coalition and urged PDP members to remain focused on internal consolidation ahead of the national convention. However, it expressed support for the party’s openness to collaborate with like-minded Nigerians to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The caucus also resolved to intensify efforts to secure victory in upcoming bye-elections in Oyo and Ogun States, and the local government elections in Lagos State.

It strongly condemned the Federal Government for withholding Osun State’s local government allocations, calling the action unconstitutional and a direct attack on the people’s welfare.

Raising concerns over the country’s deteriorating security and economic situation, the caucus echoed Governor Makinde’s declaration that the 2027 elections would be a showdown between Nigerians and the APC.

Finally, it called on Nigerians not to lose hope and to continue supporting the PDP as the vehicle to rescue the country from misrule.
