The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, October 1, 2025, a public holiday to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary.
Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who made the announcement on behalf of the government, congratulated Nigerians at home and abroad on the milestone.
In a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, Tunji-Ojo urged citizens to uphold the values of patriotism, unity, and resilience that have sustained the nation since 1960.
He further called on Nigerians to keep faith with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which he said is focused on national rebirth, economic transformation, and shared prosperity.
Expressing optimism for the country’s future, the minister said Nigeria would continue to grow stronger in peace, progress, and development with the collective effort of its people.
He wished all Nigerians a joyful and memorable Independence Day celebration.
