Newly-promoted Premier League club Brentford have officially opened talks with FC Midtjylland over midfielder Frank Onyeka.
According to Sky Sports, the Bees are interested in signing the 23-year-old ahead of the new season and have already began negotiations.
The reports revealed that Brentford are interested in signing the Super Eagles’ player on a season long loan deal with an option to sign him permanently at the end of the season.
Talks understood to be fruitful as both team are owned by top businessman Matthew Benham.
Matthew Benham saved the Brentford from financial ruin before helping guide them to promotion to the Premier League, last season.
Meanwhile, Danish Superliga side FC Midtjylland have dropped the biggest hint yet that Onyeka was not in the plans of new manager Bo Henriksen for the forthcoming season.
The Super Eagles midfielder has been omitted from Midtjylland’s traveling party to Sweden, where they face Allsvenskan table-toppers Malmo in a friendly on Sunday, June 27.
His last match as a player of Midtjylland was against Aarhus GF on the final day of the 2020-2021 campaign.
Nigerian midfielder Raphael Onyedika, one of the players tipped to replace Onyeka in the Midtjylland first team in 2021-2022, is among the 21 players taken to Sweden by coach Bo Henriksen.
Onyeka has scored 17 goals in over 100 appearances for the Danish club since joining from Nigerian side FC Ebedei.
