BUA Foods Reports ₦276.1bn H1 Profit, Up 101%

BUA Foods Plc has posted a 101% year-on-year growth in profit before tax, reaching ₦276.1 billion for the half-year ended June 30, 2025, according to unaudited financial results submitted to the Nigerian Exchange Group on Wednesday.

The company’s revenue climbed by 36% to ₦912.5 billion, supported by strong performances across its sugar, flour, pasta, and rice divisions. Notably, the rice segment recorded an exceptional 2,923% growth in revenue—from ₦1.3 billion in H1 2024 to ₦39.3 billion in the current period.

Gross profit increased by 55% to ₦339.3 billion, while gross margin improved to 37.2% from 32.4% a year earlier. Operating profit rose by 41% to ₦284.8 billion. Earnings per share nearly doubled to ₦14.45 from ₦7.27.

Total assets grew to ₦1.33 trillion, representing a 21.7% increase, while equity advanced by 60.6% to ₦689.1 billion. Liabilities decreased by 3.4% to ₦644.1 billion, and retained earnings surged by 62% to ₦681.1 billion.

Managing Director Ayodele Abioye described the results as a reflection of the company’s strong fundamentals and operational efficiency. “Amidst evolving macroeconomic dynamics, we remain focused on scale, affordability, and consistent value delivery,” he said.

Abioye added that the company’s investments in backward integration and manufacturing capacity continue to position BUA Foods for long-term growth.

Segmental analysis showed that the flour division generated ₦378.2 billion in revenue, up 66%, while the sugar segment contributed ₦398.1 billion, an 8% increase. Pasta revenue rose by 31% to ₦96.9 billion.

BUA Foods reaffirmed its commitment to leveraging technology and innovation across its integrated supply chain to enhance food security and scale up export capacity across West Africa.
