Celtic clinched the Scottish Premiership title in dramatic fashion on Saturday, scoring two late goals to defeat Hearts 3-1 and secure their 14th league crown in the last 15 seasons.
Needing victory to overtake Hearts at the top of the table on the final day, Celtic came from behind at Celtic Park to deny the visitors a first Scottish title in 66 years.
Hearts appeared on course for a historic triumph after Lawrence Shankland headed the visitors into the lead in the 43rd minute from a Stephen Kingsley corner.
However, Celtic levelled deep into first-half stoppage time when Arne Engels converted a penalty after Alexandros Kyziridis was penalised for handball.
The match remained tense throughout the second half as Hearts defended resolutely in pursuit of the title, but Celtic eventually broke through three minutes from time when Daizen Maeda bundled in the equaliser after a VAR review confirmed the goal.
With Hearts pushing forward in search of a response, Callum Osmand sealed the victory in stoppage time by racing clear from inside his own half and finishing into an empty net after goalkeeper Alexander Schwolow had joined the attack.
The victory sparked jubilant scenes among Celtic supporters, who invaded the pitch at full-time to celebrate the title triumph.
The championship success further extended the dominance of Celtic and Rangers in Scottish football, with no other club winning the league title in the last 41 years.
Celtic manager Martin O’Neill expressed delight at the dramatic finish, describing the achievement as “like a dream.”
