Celtic have confirmed the signing of Haissem Hassan from Real Oviedo on a four-year contract, with an option to extend the deal by a further season.
The Egypt international has joined the Scottish champions to strengthen Martin O’Neill’s attacking options on the right flank, offering a naturally left-footed option in the position.
Celtic have paid an initial £6 million for the 24-year-old, with a further £3 million available in potential add-ons, which could take the total transfer fee to £9 million.
Hassan will now look to make an impact at Celtic Park once he settles into his new surroundings and becomes available for competitive action.
However, the winger may need time to adapt, having struggled to produce consistent numbers in the final third during his spell in Spain.
Hassan failed to score in 37 LaLiga appearances for Real Oviedo during the 2025/26 campaign, highlighting the need for improvement in his goalscoring output.
Celtic could also strengthen their options on the right wing further, with Sweden international Gustaf Lagerbielke reportedly a potential target from Lech Poznan.
A move for another attacking player could increase competition for places, particularly if Hassan does not quickly improve his goal contributions.
Celtic’s attacking style could provide Hassan with opportunities to develop his output, with the team regularly creating chances for their forwards.
The winger’s ability to contribute more goals and assists will therefore be crucial as he looks to establish himself as a key player for the Hoops.
