An Abuja High Court, presided over by Justice M. M. Adamu, has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognize Chris Imumolen as the National Chairman of the Accord Party. This ruling is effective pending the hearing and determination of a lawsuit filed by Imumolen and 12 other party officials against Maxwell Mgbudem and 13 others.
In response to an ex parte motion presented by the applicants’ counsel, Christopher Okonkwo, the court directed the defendants to cease presenting themselves as the national executive committee of the Accord Party until the case’s resolution. Additionally, the court restrained the defendants from holding any state or local government congresses for the party.
The suit names Mgbudem, INEC, the Inspector General of Police, the Department of State Services (DSS), and 10 others as defendants.
