The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has begun receiving 4,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) trucks as part of a ₦720 billion fuel distribution program set to launch on August 15, 2025.
The initiative aims to cut logistics costs, improve supply efficiency, and promote cleaner energy by delivering petrol and diesel directly to filling stations, industries, and bulk consumers nationwide. It will cover Nigeria’s daily demand of 65 million liters of petroleum products—45 million liters of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), 15 million liters of diesel, and 5 million liters of aviation fuel.
By absorbing logistics costs estimated at ₦45 per liter—over ₦1.07 trillion annually—the program is expected to reduce pump prices, ease inflation, and boost profitability for more than 42 million MSMEs.
The plan also includes nationwide CNG “mother and daughter” stations and other infrastructure to support free distribution, reduce carbon emissions, and curb fuel smuggling. The Dangote Group says the program will create over 15,000 direct jobs and revive dormant filling stations.
“This is a bold step toward economic transformation,” the company said, adding that the move aligns with its goal to lower production costs, stimulate growth, and support Nigeria’s energy independence.
