Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals has reduced the price of aviation fuel (Jet A1) to ₦1,650 per litre from ₦1,750 per litre as part of efforts to ease cost pressures on airlines and ensure uninterrupted fuel supply nationwide.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the refinery’s media team said the price cut was accompanied by additional support measures, including a 30-day interest-free credit facility for marketers and airline operators backed by bank guarantees.
The company also announced a transition from a dollar-denominated pricing structure to a naira-based model.
The interventions come amid mounting concerns over rising operational costs in Nigeria’s aviation sector, where aviation fuel accounts for a significant share of airline expenses.
Industry stakeholders have repeatedly warned that the increasing cost of Jet A1 fuel was placing severe financial strain on domestic carriers and threatening the sustainability of flight operations.
According to the statement, the refinery’s latest move is expected to reduce fuel procurement costs for airline operators, improve operational stability, and support ongoing efforts to moderate airfares.
