The Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals will receive 60 shiploads of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)–powered trucks within the next six weeks to boost fuel distribution across Nigeria.
Group Chief of Branding and Communication at Dangote Industries Limited, Anthony Chiejina, disclosed this in a Sunday statement, noting that the phased delivery forms part of the refinery’s fuel logistics programme, which begins August 15.
Valued at ₦720 billion, the fleet is being imported through Apapa Port to improve supply efficiency and reduce logistics costs. The first consignment has arrived at the Ibeju-Lekki refinery site, received by Vice President of Oil and Gas, Devakumar Edwin.
According to the company, the initiative is projected to save over ₦1.7 trillion annually in fuel distribution expenses, lower energy costs for more than 42 million Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), and create over 15,000 direct jobs.
The programme is also expected to revive dormant filling stations, curb cross-border fuel smuggling, and enhance environmental sustainability.
