DHL Aviation has unveiled two fully branded Boeing 737-400 aircraft at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, reinforcing its investment in Sub-Saharan Africa’s logistics infrastructure. The new aircraft will boost air capacity, improve delivery predictability, and expand DHL’s reach to support businesses across West Africa and beyond.
As the only integrator operating a dedicated air network in Sub-Saharan Africa, DHL is scaling its aviation operations to meet growing demand from sectors such as e-commerce, perishables, energy, and life sciences & healthcare.
Anthony Beckley, VP Operations and Aviation, DHL Express SSA, said the move aligns with the growth of trade under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). “Businesses are demanding predictable transit times and consistent delivery performance. These aircraft will integrate into DHL Aviation’s African air network, strengthening connections on critical Africa-Europe and Africa-Asia trade lanes,” he stated.
The aviation expansion complements DHL’s broader commitment to sustainable growth. The company continues to advance digitalisation with AI-enabled route optimisation, digital customs tools, and renewable energy and alternative fuel projects across its facilities.
