The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a medical doctor accused of transporting drugs to kidnappers operating in parts of Kwara State.
According to a statement signed by Rafiu Ajakaye, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, the doctor was intercepted in the Jebba area following intelligence reports on the activities of criminal gangs and their couriers.
The DSS noted that kidnappers appear to be seeking medical attention for gunshot wounds sustained during confrontations with security forces.
A security official warned of potential risks to health facilities in remote areas, urging authorities to strengthen security measures in clinics and hospitals located in thickly forested regions, which could be targeted by criminal elements.
