The Department of State Services (DSS) says it has disrupted a major arms supply network allegedly linked to attacks in Plateau State and surrounding areas, arresting a suspected arms manufacturer and dealer.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the agency said the suspect was involved in producing and distributing weapons and ammunition to armed groups operating across Plateau and other northern states.
According to the DSS, the suspect, identified as Musa Abubakar, was arrested on November 12, 2025, after intelligence-led operations directed operatives to his workshop in the Mista Ali area of Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Items recovered from the site included components of improvised explosive devices, chemicals, and equipment believed to be used in the manufacture of weapons.
“Operatives of the Department of State Services have successfully disrupted a high-target arms supply network linked to terrorist activities in Plateau and neighbouring states. The operation led to the arrest of Musa Abubakar, a key arms dealer, following precise intelligence on November 12, 2025,” the statement read.
The DSS added that the suspect confessed to producing and distributing high-calibre weapons to armed groups responsible for violent attacks in the region. It said his arrest followed “credible intelligence” that prompted a targeted raid on his workshop.
The operation comes shortly after the secret police rearrested Abdulazeez Obadaki, also known as Bomboy, a Kuje Prison escapee accused of involvement in the Owo and Deeper Life Church attacks. The DSS had earlier confirmed the arrest of nine suspects, including 46-year-old Timna Manjol.
