Nollywood actress Eniola Ajao has debunked renewed speculation suggesting she is in a romantic relationship with fellow actor Odunlade Adekola.
The rumours resurfaced last week after a video from the burial of Adekola’s father in Otun Ekiti went viral. In the footage, Ajao was seen trying to avoid the camera shortly after exchanging pleasantries with Adekola’s wife, a gesture some netizens interpreted as suspicious.
Critics revived long-standing claims of an alleged affair between the pair, but Ajao responded in a social media post, urging fans not to dwell on false narratives. “Life hits differently when you stop trying to prove you didn’t say that, you didn’t do that, you’re not like that. You can’t fix every lie and every rumour, nor can you defend yourself every time something is said about you. Just be great!” she wrote.
She added: “People may destroy your image, stain your personality, but they can’t take away your good deeds. No matter how they describe you, you will still be admired by those who really know you better.”
Ajao also reshared a fan’s comment defending her presence at the burial. The supporter described her actions as a mark of loyalty to Adekola, whom she has worked with extensively in the movie industry. The fan further criticised the notion that men and women cannot share a platonic relationship.
“Your maturity is top-notch. Please, I want to see more of you with my favourite actor, Odunlade Adekola. The more they make the noise, the more we come to your page to check your news,” the fan’s message read.
Ajao, who has frequently faced such rumours in the past, said she remains focused on her career and will not be distracted by controversies.
