Organized under the First@Sports initiative, the event underscores the bank’s long-standing commitment to sports development and nation-building.

For over six decades, FirstBank has played a pivotal role in promoting sports in Nigeria, with a special focus on golf, polo, and tennis. The FirstBank Lagos Amateur Open Golf Championship remains the country’s most esteemed international golf event, drawing top amateur golfers from around the world.
A Platform for Talent and Success
This celebrated tournament has served as a launching pad for many aspiring professionals, helping golfers transition to the elite ranks. Past winners have gone on to compete professionally, while the event continues to foster talent and offer a supportive platform for budding athletes. Participants also gain valuable World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) points, advancing their golfing careers on a global scale.
Highlights of the 2024 Edition
The 63rd edition of the Championship will be held at Ikoyi Club 1938 from November 18 to 24, 2024. This year’s tournament features two new additions aimed at promoting inclusivity and empowerment:
“Search for 4 Stars” – A program designed to support 150 young male and female golfers, aged 18-30, who are currently working as caddies at Ikoyi Club.
“Championship Kitty” – A competition for golfers with a handicap of 10 and above, broadening participation across different skill levels.
The Corporate Golf Challenge for Charity will also continue, with proceeds from team entry fees being donated to charitable organizations under the FirstBank SPARK initiative.
