Ghana Fires Coach Otto Addo Ahead of World Cup

By Ayomide Otitoju

Ghana has dismissed coach Otto Addo just over 70 days ahead of the World Cup, following a 2-1 friendly defeat to Germany on Monday in Stuttgart.

The loss, sealed by a late goal from Deniz Undav, marked the Black Stars’ fourth consecutive defeat, coming after a 5-1 loss to Austria last week.

In a statement, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) expressed gratitude to Addo for his contributions and wished him well, adding that the team’s new technical direction would be announced in due course.

Addo, 50, had led the national team since March 2024. Ghana will face England, Croatia, and Panama in this summer’s World Cup in North America.
