Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has called on members and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to throw their full weight behind President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement released on Friday, Abbas endorsed the President’s performance since assuming office, acknowledging that while some of his policies have resulted in short-term hardship, they were necessary to reposition the country for long-term growth and stability.
The Speaker’s remarks followed the APC National Summit held on Thursday, where party leaders formally endorsed Tinubu as the sole presidential candidate for the 2027 election. Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced the endorsement on behalf of the National Assembly’s 109 Senators and 360 House Members. Abbas seconded the motion, reiterating his firm backing.
“President Tinubu has taken bold, and at times difficult, decisions to reset the nation’s trajectory,” Abbas said. “We are beginning to see the results in improved fiscal discipline, infrastructure projects, employment opportunities, and a renewed push against insecurity.”
He stressed the importance of mobilizing support at the grassroots, urging party members to actively communicate the successes of the Renewed Hope Agenda to constituents.
“2027 will not be won on paper – it will be won through trust,” he said. “We must refine our messaging, strengthen our outreach, and demonstrate how our policies are improving lives.”
Abbas called for unity within the party and a shared commitment to advancing the APC’s vision. “Renewed Hope is not just a slogan; it is a solemn promise to build a better, stronger Nigeria,” he added.
