Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, on Tuesday convened a high-level strategy conference with senior police officers at Force Headquarters in Abuja, focused on evolving security challenges and reinforcing operational effectiveness.
The meeting brought together Commissioners of Police and senior officers to review the Force’s performance and outline future directives in tackling crime nationwide.
Egbetokun praised the Force for its recent successes, noting that between June and July 2025, the Nigeria Police recorded 5,488 arrests for crimes including kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, and homicide. Additionally, 316 firearms, 2,884 rounds of ammunition, and 216 stolen vehicles were recovered, while 170 kidnapped victims were rescued—some from remote and dangerous areas.
“These achievements reflect your dedication to public safety,” the IGP said, urging officers to remain proactive, embrace intelligence-led policing, and adopt technological tools to address evolving threats.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to improved welfare for both serving and retired officers, describing leadership within the Force as a duty grounded in lifesaving decisions, not ceremonial titles.
The conference concluded with renewed commitments from police leadership to intensify grassroots engagement and uphold public trust in maintaining national security.
