Nollywood actress Ini Dima-Okojie has announced the birth of her first child with her husband, Abasi Ene-Obong.

The actress shared the news on Instagram on Wednesday, coinciding with her 36th birthday, revealing that the couple recently welcomed a baby boy.

Accompanying the announcement were photographs taken shortly after the birth, showing Dima-Okojie cradling her newborn son in a hospital bed as she introduced him to the public for the first time.

Reflecting on her journey into motherhood, the actress described the experience as the most transformative role of her life.

“There is no role I have ever played that has humbled me, stretched me, challenged me, or filled my heart quite like this one,” she wrote.

She added that the past few weeks had been among the most beautiful, overwhelming, exhausting and rewarding periods of her life.

Describing motherhood as a life-changing experience, Dima-Okojie said getting to know her son had been “the greatest gift,” noting that caring for him had revealed strengths she never knew she possessed while deepening her appreciation for mothers everywhere.

“Getting to know this tiny human, the cutest boy with the sweetest dimples, has been the greatest gift. Watching him grow, learning from him, loving him and caring for him has shown me strengths I didn’t know I had. It has also given me an even deeper appreciation for mothers everywhere,” she said.

The actress married Dr. Ene-Obong, founder and former Chief Executive Officer of genomics company 54gene, in 2022.

Her announcement attracted congratulatory messages from fans and fellow celebrities, including Nancy Isime, Chioma Ikokwu, Kehinde Bankole and Osas Ighodaro.

Over the years, Dima-Okojie has been open about her battle with Uterine Fibroids, frequently sharing her experiences to raise awareness about the condition.

In 2020, she disclosed that she had been diagnosed with fibroids in 2017 and initially delayed surgery while exploring alternative approaches, including dietary changes and exercise. In July 2024, she revealed that the fibroids had returned years after the procedure. However, three months later, she announced that a follow-up ultrasound showed the fibroids were shrinking due to lifestyle changes she had adopted.

Having previously described her pregnancy as a miracle and a humbling experience, the arrival of her baby boy marks a joyful new chapter for the actress and her family.
