The Islamic Development Bank Group has concluded its IsDB Group Day in Nigeria, convening senior government officials, private sector leaders, financial institutions, and development partners to تعزيز collaboration and promote private sector–driven growth.

The high-level event, held on March 30, 2026, highlighted Nigeria’s strategic position as Africa’s largest economy and underscored the importance of private sector participation in addressing key development challenges, including infrastructure deficits, youth and women unemployment, and limited access to finance for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The forum also served as a platform for the IsDB Group to showcase its suite of services across investment, trade finance, insurance, Islamic finance, and capacity building, while facilitating dialogue among policymakers, investors, and entrepreneurs on viable business and investment opportunities.

In his keynote address, Wale Edun said the country is shifting from economic stabilisation to a phase of accelerated growth, anchored on investment mobilisation and targeted reforms.

He noted that Nigeria’s ambition to build a $1 trillion economy by 2030 would depend on “capital with purpose,” supported by strategic partnerships with institutions such as the IsDB Group and the implementation of the Country Engagement Framework (2026–2028). He added that innovative financing instruments, including Sukuk, are being deployed to drive infrastructure development, industrialisation, and inclusive economic participation.

The Head of Delegation for the IsDB Group described the Country Engagement Framework as a shift toward integrated, large-scale solutions designed to support Nigeria’s transition to a diversified, high-growth economy, with the private sector positioned as a key driver of development.

A major highlight of the event was a panel discussion focused on Nigeria’s development priorities and the role of the IsDB Group in fostering strategic partnerships and practical cooperation frameworks to support sustainable and inclusive growth.

Discussions aligned with Nigeria’s long-term vision of building a diversified and resilient economy, with emphasis on expanding SME financing, strengthening public–private partnerships, advancing renewable energy and green infrastructure, and investing in human capital, particularly for youth and women.

The event also featured a series of bilateral business-to-business and business-to-government meetings aimed at deepening cooperation between the IsDB Group, investors, and local stakeholders. Participants were presented with success stories from existing partnerships in Nigeria involving local entrepreneurs and international institutions.

Key IsDB Group entities highlighted at the event included the Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investment and Export Credit, Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector, International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation, Islamic Development Bank Institute, and the Islamic Development Bank Group Business Forum.

The IsDB Group reaffirmed its commitment to deepening collaboration with the Nigerian government and private sector to expand investment opportunities, strengthen the business environment, and support sustainable development across the country.
