The Kwankwasiyya Movement has announced that its leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, will formally join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Monday, March 30, 2026. The registration is scheduled to take place at his residence in Gidan Kwankwasiyya, Miller Road, Kano, at 12 p.m.
The announcement, made in a press statement, urges members of the Kwankwasiyya Movement nationwide to register with the ADC at local wards, local government areas, and state levels, signaling a major shift in Nigeria’s political landscape.
Dr. Habibu Sale Mohammed, spokesperson for the movement, described the move as a strategic step to strengthen democratic principles and promote inclusive leadership. “We have always been committed to the betterment of our state and the nation at large,” he said. “This decision reflects our dedication to democratic values and governance that truly represent the will and aspirations of the people.”
The Kwankwasiyya Movement, which has a strong following, especially in Kano State, has been closely linked with Kwankwaso’s leadership. Dr. Mohammed stressed that the decision represents the collective interest of Nigerians. “Democracy must be protected, and the will of the people must always be respected,” he said.
Members are encouraged not only to register with the ADC but also to actively participate in party activities and contribute to its growth and development across all levels of government, the statement added.
While the full political implications of Kwankwaso’s move remain to be seen, analysts say it is likely to influence the trajectory of national politics and could have a notable impact on upcoming elections.
Dr. Mohammed concluded by reaffirming the movement’s unity and commitment to public welfare. “We remain resolute and united in our mission to create a better Nigeria. This is just the beginning of a new chapter in our political journey,” he said.
