The 2026 Lagos Leather Fair (LLF) has concluded after two days of exhibitions, fashion showcases and industry discussions aimed at promoting Africa’s leather industry and strengthening its global competitiveness.
The event brought together artisans, designers, manufacturers, buyers, investors and policymakers, providing a platform to showcase locally made leather products and foster collaboration across the sector.
A major attraction at the fair was the exhibition featuring 49 leather brands displaying a wide range of products, including handbags, footwear, furniture, accessories and leather goods. Participating exhibitors included FemiHandbags, Solely Eko, Aaboux, Chrisbek’s, Ohiole Lagos, Nichole by Haguanna, Hanker and Reech, Morin.O, IO Furniture, Obi Leather, The Perelei Leather Company, January by Wande, Ora Lagos, Woyin Taylor, Mak & Jay Africa, Mona Matthews, Sole Inspiration, Noblepad Limited and several others.
The first day of the fair also featured a fashion runway, where designers including Mhosé, Chrisbek’s, FemiHandbags and a collaborative presentation by Sole Inspiration and Zamany Accessories unveiled their latest leather collections.
Beyond the exhibitions, the fair hosted panel discussions and masterclasses focused on expanding Africa’s leather industry. Industry experts discussed strategies for building globally competitive African brands, while participants explored the application of Artificial Intelligence in digital pattern-making and sustainable leather manufacturing.
Visitors also witnessed live demonstrations at the Maker’s Bench and the LLF Atelier, where master craftsmen showcased traditional and modern leather production techniques.
The event concluded with the Lagos Leather Fair Awards, recognising individuals and brands for excellence and innovation in the leather industry.
Award winners included:
- Women’s Footwear Brand of the Year – Mona Matthews
- Men’s Footwear Brand of the Year – January by Wande
- Excellence in Artisanal Craftsmanship – Hanker and Reech Leather Goods
- Handbag Designer of the Year – Nichole by Haguanna
- Best Use of Social Media – Maliko
- Emerging Leather Designer of the Year – Elastan Signature
- Brand of the Year (Business Focused) – Sole Inspiration
- Signature Piece Challenge Winner – Elisha Kuranga
The event also presented the Leather Change Maker Awards to Obiora Ononye of Obi Leather and Obafemi Olayebi of FemiHandbags in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the growth and development of Nigeria’s leather industry.
