Makinde Says He Earned Millions Before Wike Finished Law School, Accuses FCT Minister of Undermining PDP
Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, has said he achieved significant international financial success long before the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, began his legal career.
Makinde made the remarks during a live media chat at the Government House, Agodi, Ibadan, where he reflected on his professional background and took aim at the former Rivers State governor.
According to Makinde, he was already earning millions of dollars at the age of 29 through his work with multinational oil companies, at a period when Wike, he claimed, had just completed law school.
The Oyo State governor further alleged that Wike’s political alignment with President Bola Tinubu was part of a deliberate effort to weaken the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), particularly in Oyo State, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Makinde said the issue was raised during a meeting with President Tinubu in Abuja, where he claimed to have confronted the FCT minister over the alleged alliance. He maintained that such actions, according to him, were not part of the understanding reached before the meeting with the president.
He added that the development posed a challenge to opposition cohesion and raised concerns about internal party dynamics as preparations for future elections gather momentum.
