Manchester City has announced record revenues for a Premier League club, with income for the last season reaching £715 million ($903 million). This notable increase comes as the champions celebrated an unprecedented fourth consecutive Premier League title, with revenue rising from £712.8 million to this new high for the fiscal year ending June 30.
Despite the record revenues, profits saw a decline, dropping from £80.4 million during the treble-winning 2022-23 season to £73.8 million last year. The club attributed this dip in profits to a decrease in broadcast income, largely due to their inability to replicate their previous year’s success in the Champions League.
As part of their ongoing commitments, City is currently investing £300 million in the expansion of the north stand at the Etihad Stadium. In the club’s annual report, Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak emphasized the organization’s ambition to continually target unprecedented achievements both on and off the pitch.
“Our passion for the next challenge is underpinned by deliberate and detailed planning and a shared belief in the collaborative learning culture that we have built,” Al Mubarak stated. “Our focus remains on further evolution and growth and therefore further value creation in all aspects of our business.”
Looking ahead, Manchester City faces a challenging schedule. Following a defeat to Juventus in the Champions League, they will meet rivals Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday, desperately seeking to break a concerning run of just one win in their last ten matches across all competitions. Currently, City is eight points adrift of Premier League leaders Liverpool and is at risk of missing out on the Champions League knockout stage.
Moreover, the club is awaiting the outcome of 115 charges alleging breaches of financial rules initiated by the Premier League. City, which has strongly denied any wrongdoing, faces potential repercussions, including points deductions or even relegation from the top flight if found guilty.
