MTN Nigeria has announced the selection of 25 media professionals and digital content creators for the fifth cohort of its Media Innovation Programme (MIP), reinforcing its commitment to capacity building, innovation, and leadership development in Nigeria’s media industry.
The programme, delivered in partnership with the Pan-Atlantic University’s School of Media and Communication, continues to serve as a training platform for journalists, broadcasters, and digital creators to strengthen their skills in a rapidly evolving media landscape.
This year’s cohort was drawn from a highly competitive pool of applicants across print, broadcast, and digital platforms. The intake was expanded from 20 to 25 fellows to mark MTN Nigeria’s 25th anniversary.
Speaking at the opening session, Tobe Okigbo, Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer, described the programme as a reflection of MTN’s commitment to innovation, partnership, and continuous learning, noting that it challenges participants to rethink ideas and grow professionally and personally.
Also speaking, Ikechukwu Obiaya, urged the fellows to view the programme as a transformative experience, emphasizing the importance of ethics, truth, and responsibility in journalism amid growing industry challenges.
The six-month fellowship, which began on May 18, 2026, will combine classroom learning, mentorship, and practical industry exposure, including a study visit to South Africa. Participants will be trained in media innovation, digital transformation, strategic communication, storytelling, and leadership.
Since its inception, the Media Innovation Programme has grown into one of Nigeria’s leading media fellowships, providing access to global best practices and industry experts.
MTN Nigeria reiterated its commitment to strengthening journalism and supporting media professionals who shape public discourse across Africa.
