The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has granted approval for Max Air to resume domestic flight operations following the successful completion of an economic and safety audit.
The announcement was made on Monday by NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, in an official statement.
Max Air had voluntarily suspended its domestic operations for 90 days on January 29, 2025, after experiencing a series of flight incidents. The NCAA welcomed the airline’s decision and, during the suspension period, conducted a thorough safety and economic audit.
According to Achimugu, the safety audit, conducted between February 26 and 28, 2025, involved a detailed re-inspection of Max Air’s organizational structure, operational procedures, personnel, and aircraft. The assessment was carried out in line with the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations 2023.
“Given the results of the audit, which confirm Max Air’s capacity to sustain safe flight operations, the airline will resume domestic flights, effective from midnight on March 17, 2025,” the statement read.
The NCAA also assured that it will continue to monitor Max Air through an enhanced surveillance program to ensure full compliance with safety regulations
