The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has summoned Air Peace Limited over a series of recurrent flight delays and cancellations that have disrupted travel plans and sparked public complaints.
In a statement issued on Friday by NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, the aviation regulator expressed serious concern over the airline’s operational inefficiencies and emphasized the need for swift corrective measures.
The development follows a meeting at NCAA headquarters in Abuja between the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Captain Chris Najomo, and senior executives of Air Peace. During the session, Najomo advised the airline to scale down its operations in line with the number of serviceable aircraft currently in its fleet, to reduce disruptions and restore public confidence.
“The NCAA has received numerous complaints about chronic flight delays and cancellations. This must be addressed without delay,” Najomo stated. “While the Authority will continue to support the airlines, operators must comply with aviation regulations and adhere to global best practices.”
He further warned that the NCAA is intensifying surveillance of all domestic carriers to ensure strict compliance with flight schedules and operational standards.
Representatives of Air Peace acknowledged facing certain operational hurdles, which they described as not unusual within the aviation industry. However, the airline assured regulators that efforts are underway to resolve the issues and improve overall service delivery.
Reiterating the NCAA’s firm position, Najomo stressed that the Authority maintains zero tolerance for operational shortcomings, warning that any airline failing to meet regulatory expectations will be subject to appropriate sanctions.
