The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) and Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals (DPRP) have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening collaboration aimed at enhancing Nigeria’s energy security and economic prosperity.
This strategic partnership was highlighted during a courtesy visit by Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President and CEO of the Dangote Group, to the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Ltd., Mr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, at the NNPC Towers in Abuja on Thursday.
During the visit, Dangote emphasized that the Dangote Refinery and NNPC Ltd. are partners, not rivals, in the quest to secure Nigeria’s energy future.
“There is no competition between us; we are not here to compete with NNPC Ltd. NNPC is part and parcel of our business, and we are also part of NNPC. This is an era of cooperation,” Dangote stated.
Congratulating Ojulari and the senior management team on their recent appointments, Dangote acknowledged the weight of their responsibilities and expressed confidence in their capability to lead transformative initiatives within the petroleum sector.
Responding, Mr. Ojulari affirmed NNPC Ltd.’s commitment to a mutually beneficial partnership grounded in innovation, healthy competition, and national interest. He praised the professionalism and dedication of NNPC’s workforce and stressed the importance of joint efforts in achieving energy self-sufficiency for Nigeria.
“We are ready to build a legacy of prosperity through innovation and shared purpose. Our collaboration with the Dangote Group will be sustained, particularly where it offers commercial and national advantages,” Ojulari said.
Both leaders pledged to serve as relationship managers for their respective organizations, fostering continuous dialogue and cooperation. The alliance is expected to unlock new opportunities and bolster local refining capacity, a critical step toward reducing Nigeria’s dependence on imported petroleum products.
