NNPC Limited has warned the public against fraudulent claims circulating about the alleged sale of scrap materials, equipment, and refinery components from its facilities.
In a statement, the company said the information being shared is false and misleading, stressing that it has not issued any tender, bid invitation, or approval for the disposal of scrap or equipment from any of its refineries or warehouses.
NNPC also disclosed that some individuals are falsely presenting themselves as its representatives or agents, claiming to facilitate the sale of so-called refinery scrap and equipment. It described such persons as unauthorised and intent on defrauding unsuspecting members of the public.
The company advised individuals, corporate organisations, and industry stakeholders to disregard such claims and exercise caution when approached with such offers.
It clarified that no sale of scrap materials, equipment, or refinery components is ongoing or authorised by the organisation, adding that any legitimate disposal of assets would be conducted through approved, transparent processes and officially communicated channels.
NNPC further urged members of the public to report suspicious activities or fraudulent representations to relevant law enforcement agencies.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and the proper management of national energy assets.
