A delegation from the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF), led by Executive Secretary Mr. Sheidu F. Mohammed, visited the Kano State Police Command on Monday to conduct a needs assessment and identify critical areas requiring improvement. The visit also included Hon. Makki A. Yelleman, Chairman of the House Committee on Police Affairs and a member of the House of Representatives.
The team engaged with the Command’s Management Team and carried out inspections at the Command Headquarters. Facilities such as the clinic, detention cells, and administrative buildings were evaluated as part of the assessment.
In his remarks, Mr. Mohammed emphasized the NPTF’s commitment to equipping the Nigeria Police Force with cutting-edge tools, training, and strategies to address the country’s evolving security challenges effectively.
CP Salman Dogo Garba, Commissioner of Police for Kano State, expressed his gratitude to the NPTF for its continuous support. He called for enhanced collaboration to strengthen the operational capabilities of the police in the state.
Workshop on Kidnap and Hostage Negotiation
As part of the visit, Mr. Mohammed also inaugurated a five-day training workshop on kidnap and hostage negotiation at Chilla Guests Palace, Kano. The course is designed to enhance the skills of police officers in managing ransom situations and related crises, bolstering their operational readiness.
This visit underscores the critical role of collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and the NPTF in advancing public safety and addressing contemporary security challenges.
