The Ogun State Government has ordered the closure of Perfect Light Nursery and Primary School in Eyinogbe, Sagamu Local Government Area, following allegations of sexual assault against a minor.
According to reports, the proprietor of the school allegedly abused a minor, causing severe physical harm. The suspect has since been arrested by the police, who have launched an investigation into the matter.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Ronke Soyombo, visited the school and expressed strong disapproval over the alleged abuse and the poor learning conditions at the institution. She assured the community that the Ogun State Government, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, is handling the matter to ensure justice is served.
Soyombo reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to providing a safe and conducive learning environment for all students, both in public and private schools. She urged parents to remain vigilant and protect their children from social vices.
The Ministry of Education, in partnership with the State Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, is overseeing medical examinations to ensure the well-being of the affected child. Meanwhile, arrangements have been made to transfer other students from the closed school to a nearby public primary school in Igode to continue their education without disruption.
Soyombo also warned against criminal activities in the state, stressing that the government will not tolerate such offenses.
