Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has urged stronger national commitment to protecting schools and safeguarding education, describing secure classrooms as vital to the country’s future.
In a statement to mark the International Day to Protect Education from Attack 2025 on September 9, themed “Challenging Narratives, Reshaping Action,” the First Lady emphasized that while security agencies are making significant efforts, ensuring safe learning spaces must remain a shared national responsibility.
“Education is the foundation of hope, and safeguarding it means securing our future,” she said.
Senator Tinubu also commended international organizations including UNICEF, UNESCO, and the Education Above All Foundation for their contributions to advancing child education globally.
The day is observed annually to raise awareness on the need for safe learning environments, particularly in regions affected by conflict and insecurity.
