The immediate past governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, has felicitated with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, on his 72nd birthday.
In a goodwill message on Saturday, signed by his media adviser, Mr. Terver Akase, and made available to journalists in Makurdi, Ortom described Akume as a statesman and a consummate leader whose decades of public service have left a lasting impact on Benue State and the nation.
Ortom highlighted Akume’s political journey, noting it has been defined by vision, discipline, and dedication to the public good. He praised the SGF for mentoring and grooming numerous technocrats, politicians, and professionals who continue to contribute to national development.
“Senator Akume has distinguished himself through an exemplary life of public service. As a former governor of Benue, a three-time senator representing Benue Northwest, a minister, and now SGF, he has demonstrated unparalleled commitment to the welfare of his people and the country,” Ortom said.
He further acknowledged Akume’s role in stabilising governance and supporting President Bola Tinubu’s administration in addressing the nation’s economic challenges.
Ortom prayed for God’s blessings on Akume, wishing him many more years of good health, wisdom, happiness, and continued service to Nigeria.
