FirstBank has announced its sponsorship of the Carnival Calabar & Festival 2025, unveiling a landmark initiative with the introduction of the event’s first-ever private premium seating area.
As part of its participation, the bank is constructing a 500-seater premium bleacher designed to offer enhanced comfort, safety and an elevated viewing experience for carnival attendees, marking a significant upgrade to the annual cultural showcase.
Speaking on the sponsorship, the Acting Group Head, Marketing and Corporate Communications at FirstBank, Olayinka Ijabiyi, said the partnership aligns with the bank’s First@Arts initiative, which supports the creative arts value chain across Nigeria. He noted that the arts, including carnivals, play a vital role in inspiring citizens, fostering self-expression and strengthening national unity.
Ijabiyi added that FirstBank’s involvement reflects its long-standing commitment to preserving Nigeria’s cultural heritage, stressing that the premium bleacher is aimed at further enriching the overall carnival experience for participants and spectators.
The Chairman of the Cross River State Carnival Calabar Commission, Gabe Onah, described FirstBank’s sponsorship as a strong show of private-sector support for culture and tourism, noting that the partnership would enhance the quality of the carnival and boost its global appeal.
The Carnival Calabar & Festival 2025 is officially marketed by Okhma Global Limited, the appointed official marketer in charge of brand partnerships, promotional activities and ticket sales. Okhma Global Limited has worked with the Cross River State Government for over a decade, contributing significantly to the carnival’s commercial development and international visibility.
