Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has declared Tuesday, July 28, 2026, a work-free day for public servants across the state to enable them collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of upcoming elections.
The directive covers all categories of state workers, including local government employees and staff of tertiary institutions.
A statement issued on Monday by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, said the approval was conveyed through a circular released by the Head of Service, Ayanleye Aina.
According to the circular, the work-free day was granted to allow public servants exercise their civic responsibility by obtaining their PVCs in preparation for the forthcoming governorship election and future electoral activities.
However, workers providing essential services, including healthcare and security personnel, were exempted from the directive. They were advised to make internal arrangements to ensure uninterrupted service delivery.
Governor Adeleke urged eligible voters who are yet to collect their PVCs to visit designated collection centres promptly, emphasising the importance of voter participation.
He described the voter card as a key tool for citizens to exercise their democratic rights and influence the future of the state.
