Big Brother Naija returned on Sunday night with the launch of its 11th season, unveiling 24 contestants who will compete for 72 days for a record prize package worth ₦160 million.

Hosted by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, the new edition is themed “Everything Is For The Taking”, also known as “Show Ya Sef”, and features bigger rewards, new twists and a redesigned house.

The winner of the reality TV show will receive ₦100 million in cash and an SUV, making it the biggest prize package in the history of the franchise.

The premiere introduced housemates from diverse backgrounds, including entrepreneurs, lawyers, creatives, broadcasters, students, engineers and business owners, as they prepare to compete for the ultimate title.

Among the first contestants introduced was Tram, a 24-year-old Lagos-based streamer, who said his priority is winning the competition rather than pursuing romance. He was followed by Temi Nkem, a 21-year-old model raised in London, who described herself as someone who lives life on her own terms.

Abi, a 25-year-old chef and model from Osun State, became one of the night’s major talking points after revealing that she is married, while Martins, a 30-year-old visual storyteller from Kogi State, also attracted attention after disclosing that he is in a relationship.

Other housemates unveiled include Chimsom Chuka, Keivo, Mercedes, Kamsi, Sultex, Aikou, Flora, Bells, Gerard, Oyin, Sheba, Araga, Ricky, Nomy, Barry, Neche, Yusuf, Goddessa, Bluethopia and Cassi.

The contestants shared different strategies ahead of the competition, with some planning to build alliances and others determined to focus solely on winning the grand prize.

This season also introduced a redesigned BBNaija house featuring an “upside-down” concept, bold colours and luxury interiors designed to reflect the unpredictable nature of the show.

According to MultiChoice, the construction of the house involved months of planning, design and production work, transforming an empty structure into a fully equipped television facility.

The Lagos-based house is fitted with 52 robotic PTZ cameras, seven handheld cameras, 59 microphones, 36 antenna blades and 19 speakers to provide continuous coverage throughout the season.

The organisers said the production will engage more than 1,000 Nigerians, including engineers, carpenters, electricians, decorators, camera operators, technical crews, caterers and other support staff.

Executive Head of Content and Channels for West Africa, Atinuke Babatunde, said Season 11 builds on the programme’s legacy of storytelling with higher stakes, fresh twists and a diverse mix of personalities.

The launch generated widespread reactions on social media, with viewers discussing contestants’ personalities, first impressions and potential favourites.
