Polaris Bank, in collaboration with Evolve Charity Trust, has distributed school essentials to 1,000 students across ten public secondary schools in five states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), as part of its 2025 nationwide education initiative. The programme aims to support children, particularly girls, in remaining in school.
Since 2021, Polaris Bank’s intervention has benefited over 24,000 students across 49 locations. This year’s beneficiaries received full learning kits, including school uniforms, bags, sandals, exercise books, and pens. School authorities reported that the support improves attendance, confidence, and academic performance.
The initiative also boosted local economies, with uniforms sourced from local tailors, books from bookshops, and sandals and bags from community traders, supporting small businesses in the regions.
Polaris Bank’s Managing Director/CEO, Kayode Lawal, reiterated the Bank’s five-year commitment to promoting education for the girl child, describing the materials as symbols of belief in students’ potential to become future leaders and innovators.
School principals across the country expressed gratitude, noting that the donation meets urgent needs, eases parental burdens, and restores pride among students. Beneficiaries included schools in Kano, Abuja, Kogi, Imo, and Lagos states.
Representatives of the Bank encouraged students to make the best use of the materials and remain committed to academic success. Evolve Charity Trust’s Project Manager, Godwin Ejeh, highlighted that investing in education creates positive ripple effects across communities.
The programme aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 5 (Gender Equality), promoting inclusive access to education and reducing barriers for girls. Polaris Bank affirmed its continued commitment to partnering with credible development organisations to sustain educational impact nationwide.
