President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday swore in five permanent secretaries and the Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Dr. Aminu Yusuf, during a Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting in Abuja.
The permanent secretaries sworn in include Dr. John Chidiebere Ezeamama (Imo State), Ibrahim Abdulkarim Ozi (Nasarawa State), Dr. Abdul Sule Usman Garba (North Central), Dr. Ishiyaku Musa Mohammed (North East), and Dr. Binyerem Chigbonwu Ukaire (South East).
Dr. Aminu Yusuf took the oath alongside two other NPC board members, Dr. Joseph Haruna Kigbu and Tonga Betara Bulatafa.
Dr. Ezeamama, 54, joined the Federal Civil Service as a medical officer at the State House Medical Centre. He holds an MBBS from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and an MBA, with additional training from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in London and the University of Cape Town, South Africa.
Ibrahim Ozi, 57, holds a B.Sc. in Accounting from Bayero University, Kano, and joined the Federal Civil Service in 1992. He previously served as Director of the Inspectorate Department at the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation.
Dr. Garba, 56, a medical graduate of the University of Jos and Primary Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons, joined the Federal Civil Service in 1999 and became Director in 2019. He is also an alumnus of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru.
Dr. Ishiyaku Mohammed, 57, earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and a Master of Science in Veterinary Public Health and Preventive Medicine. He joined the Civil Service in 2009 and became a Director in 2022.
Dr. Ukaire, 57, holds an MBBS from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, a Fellowship in Obstetrics & Gynaecology from the West African College of Surgeons, and a Master of Science in Public Health from the University of South Wales, UK.
Dr. Aminu Yusuf, 65, Chairman of the NPC, has a B.Sc. in Biology, a Master’s in International Affairs and Diplomacy from Ahmadu Bello University, and a doctorate in International Relations from Nasarawa State University, Keffi.
