Rite Foods Reaffirms Clean Energy Pledge

Rite Foods Limited has reaffirmed its commitment to environmental sustainability and the adoption of clean energy as it marks the 2026 International Clean Energy Day, themed “Clean Energy for People and Planet.”

The food and beverage manufacturer said it continues to integrate clean energy solutions into its manufacturing operations as part of efforts to reduce its carbon footprint while delivering products to consumers across Nigeria.

As part of activities to commemorate the global observance, the company announced plans to host an interactive stakeholder session on Friday, January 30, 2026. The forum will bring together energy experts, government officials, regulators and sustainability advocates to discuss renewable energy adoption within the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector, with a focus on collaboration and innovation for a greener industrial future in West Africa.

Speaking on the company’s sustainability strategy, the Head of Corporate Communications and Sustainability, Ekuma Eze, described clean energy as a core business priority for Rite Foods.

“At Rite Foods, clean energy is a strategic business imperative. Our approach recognises the realities of industrial operations in Nigeria while deliberately pursuing cleaner, more efficient and resilient energy solutions that support sustainability and business continuity,” Eze said.

According to the company, natural gas and solar energy currently account for about 95 per cent of its energy mix, with diesel contributing just five per cent. The company said the transition has significantly reduced its reliance on carbon-intensive fuels across its production facilities.

The General Manager, Operations, Femi Ajileye, said the company’s production systems are designed to maximise energy efficiency without compromising product quality.

“Our production systems are optimised to leverage cleaner energy sources and fully automated lines, helping to minimise energy losses while ensuring consistent output and environmental responsibility,” Ajileye said.

Rite Foods also noted that it has maintained low energy intensity per unit of production compared to industry benchmarks, attributing this to sustained investment in modern equipment, automation and continuous process optimisation. The company said these measures have strengthened cost efficiency and enhanced the competitiveness of its manufacturing operations.

The company added that its sustainability initiatives and innovation-driven approach have earned it several industry recognitions, including Outstanding FMCG Corporate Brand of the Year at the Edge Awards and multiple honours at the Sustainability, Innovation and Social Impact (SISA) Awards and the SERAS.
