Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers has called on Nigerian women to take a proactive approach to retirement planning, emphasizing financial literacy as a critical step towards long-term financial independence.
The call was made by the Executive Director of Operations at Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers, Lara Osunsoko, during a media parley to launch the 2025 edition of Bloom Weekend—an event championing women’s leadership and financial empowerment.
Osunsoko also highlighted the firm’s Ladies at the Table Empowerment Summit (LATTES), now in its fifth edition, as a key part of the company’s outreach efforts.
“Through LATTES 1.0 to 4.0, we have listened, we have learnt, and we have grown with thousands of women across Nigeria,” Osunsoko said. “We’ve helped demystify pensions and created a safe space for real conversations around money, ambition, motherhood, and identity.”
She added that Stanbic IBTC Pension’s goal is to support every woman “from her first job to her final chapter,” stressing that early financial planning is essential regardless of employment sector.
“What we do is educate,” she explained. “We offer tools like our Pension Flex, formerly micro pension, which helps women—even those in the informal sector or entrepreneurs—build a secure future.”
Also speaking at the event, Deputy Chief Executive of Stanbic IBTC Bank, Mrs. Bunmi Dayo-Olagunju, said the financial institution was seeing improvements in women’s financial literacy and business practices.
“Women entrepreneurs are increasingly separating personal and business finances, seeking bank funding, and applying strategic planning to even the smallest-scale enterprises,” she noted.
The Bloom Weekend event continues to position Stanbic IBTC as a leader in promoting gender-inclusive financial inclusion and long-term wealth preservation.
