Team Brazil emerged victorious on Sunday at the E1 Lagos Grand Prix (GP), securing their first win of the series in an electrifying finale that underscored Lagos’ growing prominence as a hub for innovation and sustainability.
Piloted by Timmy Hansen and Leva Millere-Hagin, Team Brazil dominated the group stages, race-off, and final to claim top honours with 38 points, raising their overall tally to 89 points. They were followed by Team Blue Rising in second place, while Team Drogba finished third. Notably, consistent frontrunners Team Rafa and Team Brady missed the podium this round.
The E1 Lagos GP, held on October 4–5 at Victoria Island, marked the first time the prestigious E1 Racing Championship — an all-electric powerboat competition — was hosted in Africa. The event combined cutting-edge technology, environmental sustainability, and thrilling water-based entertainment, attracting international teams and spectators.
Speaking during the grand finale, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu described the event as a testament to Lagos’ forward-looking vision and innovation.
“Hosting the E1 Grand Prix is not just about sport. It is about innovation, environmental responsibility, and putting Lagos on the global map for future-focused development,” the governor said.
Sanwo-Olu added that the championship showcased Lagos’ creativity, resilience, and commitment to clean energy, reinforcing the state’s drive to embrace sustainable solutions and position itself as a leader in green technology and modern sports entertainment.
